Titanium 15V-3Cr-3Al-3Sn is a beta titanium alloy that offers substantial weight reductions over other engineering materials. If used in the solution treated condition the alloyhas excellent cold formability. In the aged condition, the alloy has high strength. This alloy is currently used primarily for airframe applications although it has also been considered for a variety of aerospace fasteners, springs, tubing and even sporting applications
ATI 425 Titanium Alloy is a high strength, titanium alloy. ATI 425-MIL Alloy was originally developed for ballistic armor applications and exceeds both the ballistic requirements and strength requirements of MIL-DTL-46077 titanium armor plate. ATI 425-MIL Alloy is characterized as a class 4 armor plate by MIL-DTL-46077. The combination of strength and ductility makes it useful for applications that require bending and forming. Those parts can be easily manufactured while still having superior strength. Applications include aerospace, defense, industrial, medical and recreational in applications where high-strength, lightweight materials are required. In addition, the corrosion resistance of ATI 425 Alloy to saltwater environments makes it a candidate for marine related applications.
Grade 6 Ti-5Al-2.5Sn alloy has high service temperature of 480°C (896°F), medium strength, and excellent weldability and machinability. This alloy has good oxidation resistance and microstructure stability; however it is not heat-treatable. It is used mostly in Aircraft and airframe applications but has been used in cryogenics applications as well.
A near-alpha alloy, primarily used for high strength and toughness, with good creep resistance up to 1000 degrees f. Forging and machining characteristics similar to those of Ti 6AL-4V. It is the most commonly used high temperature alloy in jet engine compressors and airframe structures. It is also used in sheet melt form for engine afterburner structure and for various hot airframe skin applications. It is nonmagnetic.
Grade 5 Titanium (6AL-4V) is the most commonly used of all the titanium grades. Its combination of high strength, light weight and corrosion resistance makes it a favorite for all types of applications, such as armor plating, knife making, jewelry, robot building, bicycles, motorsports, camping gear and anywhere that you require high strength and want light weight.
Ti 6AL-4V ELI, or Grade 23, is the higher purity version of Ti 6Al-4V Grade 23 the ultimate dental and medical grade of titanium. It can be used in biomedical applications such as implantable components such as hips and bone implants and even dental posts due to its biocompatibility, good fatigue strength and low modulus.
Titanium 6AL-6V-2Sn is a alpha-beta alloy with superior strength, good corrosion resistance medium welding and good fabrication properties. Some of its applications include rocket and aircraft casings and artillery parts and airframe components. It is also heat treatable
Titanium 8AL-1Mo-1V It is used primarily in engine applications such as forged compressor blades and disks .This near alpha alloy was created primarily to resist creep up to 805 F. It possesses the highest tensile strength and lowest density of any of the titanium alloys
CP Grade 1 , Titanium is classified by its corrosion resistance, ductility, and strength.
CP Ti Gr. 1 has the highest corrosion resistance, formability, and lowest strength, It sues include desalination , pacemakers, implants and marine applications.
Titanium Grade 2 Commercially Pure has moderate strength and excellent cold forming properties. It provides excellent welding properties and has excellent resistance to oxidation and corrosion. Can be used for exhaust systems, pipes, and salt water applications.
CP Grade 3 or CP-2 This unalloyed grade offers slightly higher mechanicals when compared with Commercially Pure Grade 2 while displaying similar ductility and formability. Generally used where corrosion resistance is a major design factor in chemical production components, marine and airframe applications.
CPGrade 4 or CP-70 is the strongest of the CP grades, with a minimum yield strength of 480 MPa (70ksi) and has the highest allowable oxygen and iron content of the grades. This material features excellent resistance to corrosion and corrosion fatigue as well as high strength. It is used for aerospace, cryogenics vessels , chemical processing and heat exchangers.
Titanium Grade 7 has physical and mechanical properties similar to Grade 2. It has excellent welding and fabrication properties and is extremely resistant to corrosion especially from acids due to the addition of approx 0.25% palladium. It is used mainly in chemical processing equipment.
